Hi John,

I'm sorry, but I'm one of those people that suspect that most claimed etymologies for names are made up. And words are rarely much better! =:-o

Apologies if this isn't what you wanted to hear!

Cheers, ...Nick Pelling...

The subtle genius of the Voynich Manuscript - and this is something that I’ve been pointing out for years - is that it was written in a cipher which had been constructed to resemble an unknown European language. What you are reading, then, is the covertext: the letters on the surface, while the actual meaning swims just beneath.

Why is the covertext not in a book available ?

Just beneath I am looking as wellll. (only works if the covertext is available I think)

All the same, just as with Brumbaugh in the 1970s, there are places where Jody’s reading does seem briefly to make sense, as if the pages were lit by a flickering candle: but having myself tried to duplicate his reading on other pages, this only seems to happen once or twice per page - not statistically significant.

That is because you do not have the alphabet, Voynich.nl is not finished yet and as you saw I made mistakes building it. No problem, Nick was the one telling me I had to prove no-thing.....which I will though.

Thanks nick,
Won"t "block" you again, just building, takes time.

Somethings work, somethings people do not understand, takes time.

I have time mund is not like the mand now.

I have time, first priority is to prove you can read it.

"Problems" are for later.

Rene is right,
I have to prove, but..... people decide..not the ones building a book around a theorie.

Hi Elmar,

I've had quite a dialogue with Jody over the past month or so, mainly via comments left on this site (and a few on yours). I first found his museumofhoaxes comment not long after he left it (back in 2006, as I recall), so have been tracking his "Maat theory" for some time. No, it's not a practical joke: but even the smartest of Voynich theorists have tended to get one or more aspects of the palaeography & codicology wrong (<strong>just think of Brumbaugh and the f49v number column</strong>), so I'm not <em>hugely</em> surprised.

Cheers, ....Nick Pelling....

PS: have I convinced you yet that it's a cipher designed to resemble a non-existent archaic language? :-)
