To my eye, this looks somewhat like a construction mark from a projection pass, but which subsequently appears offset because of the refocusing of the lens. But the whole distaff looks somewhat distorted to me, as if it was eyeballed (slightly imperfectly) by someone with fantastic craftmanship to put on top of the imperfection.
